Quicktime Exploit - is video Safe in SL

In response to the Quicktime Security Flaw pointed out by Linden Labs in their recent blog post, Read here.

First i'll like to say that @home TVs pre-programmed content is completely safe from this exploit. 100% SAFE.

Its important for residents to know that its still same safe to watch video from trusted sources.

This exploit is specific and only video streams using the RTSP protocol can use this exploit. Also the streams have to be specifically scripted to utilize the exploit.

Streams that dont use RTSP are completely safe.

In our TVs we have SLCN and AmericaFREE.tv channels using RTSP but theses sources are completely safe. I know the producers of SLCN and i have been in contact with AmericaFREE.tv CEO. Have syndicated AmericaFREE.tv content for over a year. I know their content is completely safe.

All other streams in our TVs do not use RTSP. So they are completely safe as well.

Now what of videos from other stores in sl, well i can only speak for my store. But my opinion is that most of the video stores in sl dont use RTSP.

The main thing is to only go with trusted sources.

Enjoy!!!

Hello;

Here at AmericaFree.TV we keep a very tight control on our encodings and sourcing of content, and, based on what has been published about this, our streams should be safe from this exploit.
